I would like to see a plan implemented to provide taxi companies in larger cities incentives to purchase hybrid cars for their taxis. A government backed grant program that woulde help cab companies purchase hybrid cars would help decrease emissions and would also greatly decrease the demand for fuel in our larger cities. Hybrid cars get the best fuel mileage in stop and go traffic, which would be perfectly suited to constant city driving.

Progressive Growth The American Dream has been a story of progressive policy establishing conditions in which individuals have been able to seize opportunities and make a better life for themselves, their children, their families, and their communities. It can be so again. The ladder of economic mobility can be rebuilt with the right leadership and progressive policy.

On the first day of the new administration, the president should raise gas taxes two dollars a gallon to a) decrease our dependence on foreign oil, and b) decrease auto emissions in the U.S., thus decreasing global warming.

The next president should enter into a binding international treaty through the United Nations to cut U.S. emissions. He or she should also work with developing countries to adapt new technologies that both allow for economic development and protect the environment.

We need a president who will do the right thing and start action of global warming immediately! The world's top climate scientists say we have only a limited window of time to start decreasing emissions before catastrophic climate changes alter our planet irreversibly!!! We need to decrease emissions by 2% per year starting now to allow us to reach the target of an 80% reduction below 1990 levels by the year 2050!!! The next President cannot cave in to special interests and what is easy, popular, or will make them liked. He or she must set standards and deadlines to reduce emissions, develop alternative fuels and protect our ever dwindling wildlife and their habitats. The future of our country - our planet - depends on it.

Not only is this our obligation, but finding new technologies to stem greenhouse gas emissions will stimulate new industries, ultimately boosting our economy.

Tax owners of cars with 6 and 8 cylinders, and with high emissions. Push for tx credits for hybrids. Abandon the ethanol program, and push public transit. Tax those who drive in the centers of large cities.
