Get the 9/11 Families the REAL investigation they -and we- deserve!

The same 9/11 widows etc. who made the 9/11 Commission happen have now made the film 9/11 Press for Truth (view below) showing it was a whitewash. NY Times reporter Philip Shenon's new book The Commission reveals that much "evidence" came from torture and that Commission Exec. Director Philip Zelikow was joined at the hip with Condi Rice, consulted with Karl Rove during the investigation and then had those phone logs suppressed! Let's get a real investigation NOT controlled by politicians.

War on Drugs

End the war on drugs. Reduce the federal deficit by treatment programs and education, not prison for non-violent offenders. 12% of the US prison population are serving time for marajuana violations?! WTF?!

Respect Human Rights and Promote Diplomacy

"America did not invent Human Rights. Human Rights invented America." -US President Jimmy Carter US standing in the world has receded as America's human rights record has been dealt blows by a failure to observe the rule of law and scandals like Abu Ghraib and the military prison in Guantanamo, Cuba. The US must repair its record and standing in the world. THE CENTER FOR AMERICAN PROGRESS www.americanprogress.org

Common Sense

We must accept that how we are viewed in the world is actually important and we cannot simply ignore the international community. Also, the next president needs to understand the difference between a preventative war (such as Iraq where a threat might come years down the line and is not imminent) and a preemptive war (such as attacking a country who has ICBM's locked, loaded and aimed at our back yard - a real imminent threat).

End the War On Everything

First, end the "War On Almost Everything". We must get away from this "War" mentality! Instead of warring on anything the government or some demagogue points at while screaming the ritual formula, we need to identify problems and find solutions that actually "promote the general welfare". For far too long, we have promoted the welfare of the corporations over literally anything else. This can only end one way: dictatorship and industrial destruction. We are too close to it now.

Shift Our Security Focus to Afghanistan

The United States made great strides to oust the Taliban and Al Qaeda and stand up the Afghan government after the invasion in October 2001, but the situation has deteriorated since 2005. The Taliban and Al Qaeda have regrouped and support the Afghan insurgency while strengthening their own capabilities. The Bush administration has portrayed Iraq as the central front of the central front of the "global war on terror," Afghanistan and the borderlands of Pakistan remain the central battlefield.

Pursuing The Global Common Good

Common Good Project Pursuing a Global Common Good means that U.S. foreign policy must go beyond preconceived notions of national self-interest and security by including our ethical obligations to the global community. Whether arguing against unjust wars or for our responsibility to lead against global warming, we challenge the faulty view that our national interests conflict with our ethical obligations.
