Let voters share law-making power with Congress, giving US a check and balance against torture, domestic spying, perpetual war & debt, Presidential "signing statements," ad nauseum. The Swiss have kept their Parliament honest this way since 1891! National ballot initiatives would be like state ones but far more deliberative, easier and less influenced by money. The best proposal is by Sen. Mike Gravel and YOU can now vote to ratify it at VOTE.org, much as citizens ratified the Constitution!
The same 9/11 widows etc. who made the 9/11 Commission happen have now made the film 9/11 Press for Truth (view below) showing it was a whitewash. NY Times reporter Philip Shenon's new book The Commission reveals that much "evidence" came from torture and that Commission Exec. Director Philip Zelikow was joined at the hip with Condi Rice, consulted with Karl Rove during the investigation and then had those phone logs suppressed! Let's get a real investigation NOT controlled by politicians.
Pay our dues to the UN. The U.S. makes a big show of voting for UN Peacekeeping missions (a large part of their role on the Security Council) but we fail to fully fund our share. Voting is one thing, coming through with the cash is the most important part. As it is now, we are setting these important UN missions up for failure. So, Mr/Mrs next President, please, put your money where your mouth is
Iraq is a test of American values and American resolve. This country used to stand for the proposition that we would bear any burden in the pursuit of freedom in the world. We cannot go back on that promise. We must continue to support and defend democratic movements in Iraq and continue to work towards the goal of a peaceful, democratic and tolerant Iraq. We cannot do that by walking away. To do so would be sign that our democratic values mean nothing.
The President should call upon us all to join the fights against our greatest challenge – OIL. Build an Army of millions of citizens, who are dedicated to eliminating Terrorism by fighting Terrorist groups & reducing Oil Consumption - that reduces Terrorist funding, global warming, many health issues & shows the World we deserve respect for our sacrifices - we will be sacrificing for THEM too! The new Green Economy grows & satisfies the Job Market. Banks required by law to freeze debt...
Peacekeeping is not easy. Peace, like war, must be waged: it means protecting civilians, overseeing elections, and disarming ex-combatants. Over 100,000 UN peacekeepers are deployed around the world, doing the hard work that others can't or won't do, in places where others can't or won't go. Join me in thanking UN peacekeepers for all that they do at http://www.globalproblems-globalsolutions.org/site/PageNavigator/BWC_Peacekeeping_Thankyou.
To encourage voting in the Texas Primary, Austin singer-songwriter Kat Edmonson ( http://www.myspace.com/katedmonson ) marched around the streets of Austin asking complete strangers, "What would you do if you were President?". The resulting video is a simple yet powerful montage of diverse Austinites writing and presenting their own colorful answers to the camera. Find out what Austin wants to see addressed On Day One.
Major breakthroughs in cooperation in any area of conflict are attainable by, 1-Taking responsibility for our long history of misconduct towards the people of countries we have difficulties with, 2-By making amends to those who have been harmed by our actions and 3-By putting an end to our divisive, coercive and controlling foreign policies. We are our own worst enemy!

Provide incentive for the mid east countries to negotiate Peace. Giving a few countries billions of American dollars yearly, without them having to be accountable for getting along with neighbors, has cost American too many lives over the past 5 decades.
Politicians seem to have an agenda that Americans are not be made aware of, and those are also principles which counter Peace. Is the US working for people of a nation, or for large multi-national corporatons that benefit from chaos?
