Pay our Peacekeeping dues

Pay our dues to the UN. The U.S. makes a big show of voting for UN Peacekeeping missions (a large part of their role on the Security Council) but we fail to fully fund our share. Voting is one thing, coming through with the cash is the most important part. As it is now, we are setting these important UN missions up for failure. So, Mr/Mrs next President, please, put your money where your mouth is

Shift Our Security Focus to Afghanistan

The United States made great strides to oust the Taliban and Al Qaeda and stand up the Afghan government after the invasion in October 2001, but the situation has deteriorated since 2005. The Taliban and Al Qaeda have regrouped and support the Afghan insurgency while strengthening their own capabilities. The Bush administration has portrayed Iraq as the central front of the central front of the "global war on terror," Afghanistan and the borderlands of Pakistan remain the central battlefield.

The Buck Must Stop Somewhere

We're a really lucky generation. We've been born into a system that keeps more of us safe and comfortable than any other that existed, and I'm grateful to the people who created it. But it's time to take the next step. It isn't enough for us to just be mostly safe and comfortable, we must also be free. And that means we must not rely on our politicians to promise safety or comfort. The next war for independence will be fought inside ourselves. No border will be secure enough if we live in fear.

Launch an Apollo Project for Energy Innovation and Independence

We're the most innovative country in the world. We can stop funding terrorists and dictators; increase our national security; attack global warming; reduce the costs of defense; revive and distribute prosperity; protect and preserve our natural resources and environment; increase our quality of life; and re-emerge as the model and leader for the world. Under Kennedy we went to the moon in ten years. We can do it again. Aim 300 million Americans at energy independence, and watch what happens.

exclusion plays against order

Simply, you are the greatest nation in the world, but without any intention of offending, are you in a position to respect your fellow men enough? Obviously, it's the only key in the matter at hand . I'm spanish and it looks like USA puts its own security before global development, and this is creating dangerous, growing worlwide tension. If everyone in the world feelt your goverment cares for they, no voice would be heard over the indisputable will of the people. Never leave comunication aside

This is issue #1. We rely on

This is issue #1. We rely on the Earth's delicate balance for our food, clean water, and safety. Anyone who says national security is a bigger issue is terribly misguided. As the resources necessary for life become scarcer with climate change, we will only see an increase in global violence as desperation rises. We must act quickly, and we must lead the rest of the world by our example. As individuals, we must make hard choices in our everyday actions. One easy way to reduce one's personal im

Give the Palerstinians A Homeland

The whole world knows our one-sided Middle East policy. The Palestinians are suffering. We let Israel rule and occupy Palestinian land for 40 years and we don't care. We turn our heads while Israel adds more settlements and apartment buildings in East Jersusalem. Remember this: we will never be secure until there is a fair and just settlemnt to the Palestinian issue. If you want to be safe... start by solving the Palestinian issue.

Return to Responsibility; Hope for the Future

The new President should work to ensure border security, fight terrorism, eliminate budget earmarks, and shrink the government. But above all, the President needs to inspire us to return to the values of independence, responsibility, and liberty on which America was founded. The President needs to communicate why it is that "that government governs best which governs least," and why we have sound reasons to be hopeful for our future. We can shine as a beacon to every nation in need of hope.
