Tax Carbon to Fight Global Warming

Put a tax on carbon and other greenhouse gases so we can fight our climate crisis. A cap and trade will inevitably be manipulated by the market and business looking to make a buck. We need a REAL price on carbon and other pollutants.

Make a statement to the world from Day 1 by ratifying Kyoto

On Day One of the new Australian Prime Minister's reign, PM Kevin Rudd ratified the Kyoto Protocol within an hour of being sworn in. Since then he has continued to issue in positive change. Global warming is being

Global warming is being relegated to the economy, the war, even to petty bickering during debates. Climate change will affect every other major issue, most likely making things worse. Address the problems now and through innovation green technologies can accelerate the economy in a safe way while creating consensus with all the countries that signed the Kyoto Protocol. Meanwhile, a shift in world dependence on oil will be a basis for ending wars such as Iraq.

When we use the term "global warming" we need to look beyond our backyard. The Kyoto accord, which Bush ignorantly refused to join, is an imperative. Cooperation is an important key in our future. As for home, wind and solar power and preservation of wetlands and forests need addressing soon.
