We need to regain respect, not by kowtowing to foreign demands or bribing them with Americans' jobs, but by dealing fairly and honestly with other nations, and by getting our own house in order - by building a first class educational system, by encouraging scientific and technological innovation and excellence, by building a strong economy, and by implementing a best-in-class healthcare system.

I recommend a Tiered Health Plan. For those making over 100,000/yr, they would contribute 30% of their salary as co-insurance, and the federal govt. would subsidize the rest. This contribution would continue down to 5% contributions for those making 0-$20,000/yr. If you don't work, you would perform documented community service through the park district in your community. Up to $500 is also placed in a health spending account annually if preventive health care is practiced. It will work.

We need to reverse the legacy of shame and inaction in regards to genocide and crimes against humanity. We need a system of diverting water from flooding areas to areas of drought in the US as part of our infrastructure. It could save so many homes from being destroyed by raised water levels, as well as huge insurance claim pay outs- and help a community suffering from draught...possibly even preventing fires that could take lives and homes. A WIN-WIN!

If the Government were to mandate that all low to middle income family homes were to go solar, there would be less emissions coming from the electricity plants. This would make electric cars more feasible, because then the owners wouldn't be paying an outrageous price for recharging them. If the government can mandate the switch to digital television then it can mandate the switch to solar energy.

We must restore our civil liberties, adhere to the Constitution and live up to our ideals. This is a country of laws, not men. Don't let corporations be entities with same rights as humans. President Obama needs to stay focused on two big problems. 1. the economy and 2. corruption and failure at all levels of the federal government including the Congress and federal employees, Regardless whether they are Democrat or Republican there should be a housecleaning. We are fast approaching a crisis of confidence in the Federal Government but so far I have seen little to suggest that Mr Oboma has any new approach.
