Nuclear Proliferation

Since the end of World War II, the number of nuclear-armed nations has climbed from one to nine, and an increasing number of nations have nuclear technologies that could lead to the proliferation of weapons. The spread of nuclear technology, coupled with the deadly intentions of terrorist organizations, makes the prospect of a nuclear strike more possible than ever before.

Recommit to the Anti-Ballistic Missle Treaty

Recommit to the Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty. In order to have a serious discussion with nations like Iran and North Korea about limiting nuclear technology and weapons, we need to lead by example.

Multinationalize the Fuel Cycle

The next administration should implement a universal rule for all countries that says that if a country is going to make fuel for a nuclear reactor, it must do it in an international context, to ensure that this material is not used to make weapons.

Complete Nuclear Disarmament

In order to show good faith, to make amends for past transgressions, and to show real leadership I propose that the United States immediately begin a 100% nuclear decommissioning program. This program would completely disarm the United States as a nuclear power. All current weapons in the arsenal would be safely dismantled and the toxic nuclear waste properly disposed of. All funding for nuclear weapons research will be immediately cut.

Banish nuclear weapons - forever!

Disarm and dismantle all nuclear weapons. Yes, unilaterally! Lead an aggressive diplomacy effort to bring about global disarmament of nuclear weapons. This means we stop being the world's greatest terrorist, and lead the world by example in how to make peace, not war. The world is not safe from annihilation as long as nuclear weapons exist. This ban should also apply to depleted uranium munitions: use of depleted uranium must be banned. We must stop poisoning Iraq and the world with DU!

Forgiveness

We need to pull out our military forces, call for a regional conference with all interested parties and the UN, provide funding for rebuilding the nation, and ask the Iraqi people to forgive us for our destructive occupation of their country.

Eliminate Nuclear Weapons in the Shortest Time Possible!

Jonathan Granoff, President of the Global Security Institute, argues the next President should make a commitment to eliminating nuclear weapons in the shortest time possible. The President should convene a summit to create a roadmap to disarmament and should bring into force a comprehensive test-ban treaty...

Commit to Global Nuclear Disarmament

On Day One, the next president should work within the multilateral nonproliferation framework and toward a goal of zero nuclear weapons worldwide. In the immediate term, we should stop working on new generations of nuclear weapons, ratify the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, and work with Russia on bilateral reductions in armaments. To prevent the spread of nuclear weapons, we need to get other countries on our side by first convincing them that we ourselves are acting in good faith.

Reduce the Risk of Another Global War

End the so called "alliance" with Pakistan, declassified government documents and high government officals all support the notion to cease all economic and covert aid to Pakistan. Furthermore, we must take a more forceful stand in the Middle East; you cannot negotiate with radical and stubborn terrorists. Most Importantly, stop nuclear proliferation; sanction suspected countries and place export bans on dual-use components to certain countries.
