End the Massive Corn Subsidies!
End the massive subsidies on corn. Our corn subsidies distort trade and unfairly harm agriculture in developing countries, not to mention fattening up the nation on on high frucrose corn syrup and beef raised on grain.
This is a great idea. These subsidies largely go to corn ethanol, which is mostly an illusion at this point, as it arguably creates more problems than it resolves. We're seeing these effects in current high food prices, which is having huge implications for the World Food Programme and other aid agencies, and while the American corn lobby sits pretty on its massive profits, farmers in developing nations can't compete to survive, and will increasingly have trouble getting food aid to keep themselves alive.
