What if ALL bullets and their shells found at crime scenes by CSI technicians could be traced back to whoever purchased them? Use Microstamping to put UPC (Universal Product Codes) on them, and give ALL bullet buyers a a special credit card to put elelctronic tracking on the bullets, and by scanning the found bullets and shells UPCs, we could immediately trace them back to the person who bought them, a BIG gun crime deterrent that could save countless lives in the process. That covers it.
I have been sending this idea around the Net with zero reply for years now. The point is, we now HAVE the technology to trace bullets back to whoever purchased them to deter gun crime, and I have no idea why we are not doing this already!
I would argue that most major gun crimes are committed by people using stolen or illegally purchased firearms that are traded on the black market. This would mean that spending all the money to put these barcoding systems in place would be a waste of time.
