Tax Carbon to Fight Global Warming
Put a tax on carbon and other greenhouse gases so we can fight our climate crisis. A cap and trade will inevitably be manipulated by the market and business looking to make a buck. We need a REAL price on carbon and other pollutants.

Cap and trade would be a less efficient solution and more easily manipulated, but has proven to be more politically feasible in other counties (yes other countries do this now). A carbon tax would meet a lot of resistance similar to what a substantial gasoline tax would face.
Tax fossil carbon but with 100% rebate....Tax fossil fuels (proportional to carbon content) at initial sale...Costs will be passed along...Rebate all the tax proceeds equally to individuals, to pay forthe passed along costs. If you're a conserver, you'll make out. If you're a profiglate fossil energy user, it'll cost...Must have the rebate though, not just the tax...A tax on fossil carbon definitely provides an incentive for both conservation and using alternative energy(dunno whose idea this is, but I got it from James Hansen's website)..DB
Yeah, let's put another 30 cents onto a 4 dollar gallon of gas! That'll reeeeeally stick it to OPEC (and everyone who wants to drive their car)!
Average americans can't afford to not be an energy user. We can't put people into poverty just because they're using fossil fuels. An "Alternative" solution would be to reward those who use less carbon, raher than punish those who are depentant on it.
