Tax on Alien Income
We must improve security on our borders while making it easier for Mexican Citizens to obtain legal entry into the country. I believe the unrealistic expenses ivolved are the foremost reason for illegal immigration. Rather than forcing these people to pay thousands of dollars to become legal resident aliens, we could offer some sort of deferment plan, deducted as a tax on monies earned in the US. Maybe 5% until all entry fees are paid and 1% on any further income until citizenship.

Good idea, and I can see you are looking for a win/win; but don't forget that a majority of the illegal immigrants here now would qualify for more entitlement programs and earned income credit. So in the end, their adjusted gross income would exempt them from paying tax at all, & would ultimately give them a welfare refund. We, in essence, would then be paying them to come here.
I am looking for a win/win on this issue. I strongly feel that it is not only possible but vital to the prosperity of our nation. The truth is that we NEED these people. I am not an expert on tax law, and I realize that this is a complex issue. I will echoe my statements from before that in order to reduce the amount of illegal immigration in this nation we must make it easier to obtain legal entry by reducing costs. How can we expect people who are in such desperate need of work that they are willing to risk their lives to cross the border illegaly, to pay thousands of dollars to do so legaly. they obviously do not have access to that kind of money.
My immediate family is one of mixed nationalities and creed. So I can appreciate the importance of a workable, legal immigration system. But, I reject the statement, "we need them here". The truth is many Americans, mostly black and others age 16-30, have been displaced from their jobs by cheaper illegal labor. Groups such as Choose Black America and You Don't Speak For Me (Hispanic-Americans against illegal immigration) are working to defeat this type of propaganda fed to the general population. My own brother, a construction welder, has seen his wages cut in half over the last 10 yrs because of this problem. For our agricultural sector, a contract company system, separate from the federal government, would work for crop workers; a system similar to contracted healthcare workers who travel. But overall, our solution is to help our southern neighbors establish their own strong government and economy. This is the value of the wise old saying, "give a man a fish, he eats for a day; teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime." Besides, swamping the lifeboat eventually sinks it. And that helps no one. We can make this a win/win.
Americans ran Mexicans off this land, stole it and drew a line in the sand to keep them out of our glamerous lifestyle, and took all the water from the Colorado river so none flows to Mexican farms. We appreciate Mexicans in California, they're fine, honest, hardworking people who can work long hours in the sun; I can't, it makes me sick. Who would grow your food if they were not welcome to come here to help their families?

Francis, Francis, Francis. Are you naive enogh to think that no home was built, no crop was grown, and no business ever survived without using illegal labor??? No one is disputing that there are many hard working illegal immigrants. But why can you not agree to an orderly, legal system of arrival and full compliance to the law??? If you have a guilt complex because of history, which you had nothing to do with, then I invite you to visit www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864.pdf and submit your affidavit of support. Agree to provide housing, medical care, education, legal expenses, and reimbursement of taxpayer dollars for any welfare used by an illegal immigrant for a period of 10 years. This is a win/win. An illegal immigrant family can be free to live and work in the U.S., you free up your own guilty conscience, and the rest of us are relieved of at least a bit of tax burden for citizens of another nation. Wake up Francis. By letting even 20 million illegal immigrants receive amnesty, you do nothing to help the remaining 80-100 million left in Mexico who are suffering. As long as Mexico can export their poor and unemployed and receive 20-40 billion dollars back each year (according to World Bank figures), there is no incentive for their own elite to make changes for their citizens. You're helping no one. By the way, I & many other Americans can work in the sun and cold. Just yesterday I and my 62 year old mother planted 250 pines for reforestation (to date 1500 tress planted), added fruit trees to an orchard and started a bluberry field. The 300 acre N.C. farm has seen several generations of tobacco, corn and soy beans. The 2 of us did it without one illegal immigrant on the scene. But that is NC work ethic; I'm sure you do not speak for all of CA & there are some Californians who have the same work ethic! Don't diminish your own fine, honest, hardworking countrymen.
