Inaugural Address
Inaugural Address

In your inaugural address, state that 'This country has never been, is not now, and will never be a "Christian" nation. We are a melting pot of all races, creeds, and religions, and it is this very diversity which makes us the strongest nation on earth. We must always guard against the greatest of all evils - the attempt to legislate morality.

MikeHH1230. Agree 100% You hit the nail on the head. 5 stars.
Wow. Your comment almost matched a speech given by Obama on the role of religion and politics. It was given before he decided to run for president - I dont have the exact quote but he said "whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation, at least not just. We are also a buddist, muslim, jewish, mormon nation among others and a nation of non believers. And even if we were to expel every non christian, leaving only christians, whose christianity would we teach in the schools? James Dobson's or Al Sharptons?"
It really is a great speech. Check it out. Here's the link to the vid

Please ignore those identical, nonsensical comments I just left. Accidental, I swear.
Anyway: your idea is a great one in the abstract. In practice, I think there is much a President can do and say to underscore the essential inclusiveness of American culture as well as our bedrock separation between Church and State-- but I don't anticipate any President in my lifetime outright declaring to the world that we are not a Christian nation.
How about, instead of your speech, the next prez gives one promising he will combat the widespread and malignant anti-Christian bigotry that exists in the post-secondary education industry, and that he will cut off federal funding for any college which promulagates a pattern of animosity or contempt towards Christians?
That has way more bearing on what is REALLY happening in this country.
How about this.... Rather than using his/her time as essentially the leader of the most 'diverse" group of people in the world to further personal religious ideals, he or she use the platform to enhance the prosperity of the nation, our allies, and repressed people throughout the world. I can't think of any reason any president should ever need to discuss anything religious, other than simply defending the right to ones freedom of religion. Christians need to address the "anti-Christian bigotry that exists in the post-secondary education" on their own. Afterall, education systems are designed to spark discussion, debate and progressive thinking while Christianity often represents the opposite.
I for one am tired of the empty promises, and political tap dances I have seen for the past 8 years. The next president needs to break the mold entirely, focusing more on accomplishing the goals of the American people as a whole, rather than those of his/her own small political base. If you want him/her to address what is "...REALLY happening in this country", than lets talk about poverty, health insurance, corruption, bigotry, global warming, and economic paralysis. Lets begin a foreign relations policy that actually includes discussions with our enemies, focused on common interests and compromise. Our nation needs a little more brains and a lot less Balls, specifically as they apply to international relations.
To stand up and proclaim we are not a Christian nation would do little to improve our image in the world, and only bring the country further and further apart.
In the innagural address - just simply thank the suporters and voters, outline the agenda for the first 6 months and then get to work. After 8 years of talk, actions will speak much louder than words.
"Christians need to address the "anti-Christian bigotry that exists in the post-secondary education" on their own."
OK, let's try the same sentence, but with a new word:
"Blacks need to address the 'anti-Black bigotry that exists in the post-secondary education' on their own."
Or how about:
"Jews need to address the 'anti-Jewish bigotry that exists in the post-secondary education' on their own."
Or:
"Women need to address the 'anti-female bigotry that exists in the post-secondary education' on their own."
Any of those sound OK to you? Well if they don't, but the same statement with the word "Christians" doesn't offend you, you're part of the problem.
'Uneducated' is only part of your sickness.
The next president needs to address the problem of mediocrity, cultural marxism, and anti-Christian bigotry in our education industry or we are well and truly screwed as a nation.
There are well documented attrocities towards blacks, women and jews. I don't think christians have faced anything close to that of these other groups, especially not in the American education system. I guess i need to clarify my stance.... Anti-Christian Bigotry = science and the progressive movement.
Science consistently contradicts christianity and christianity continuosly refuses to acknowledge what the rest of the world accepts as truth.... Evolution, medicine, birth control and so much more.
Maybe you speak of a great attrocity that I am unaware of, but i doubt it.
Just because the education systems challenge your beliefs doesn't mean its bigotry.
Keep religion out of politics and education and the innaugural address.
Anon,
Have you actually been to a post-secondary school? It sounds to me like you just have a bizarre need to feel persecuted, so you listen to media dolts like Bill O'Reilly who make up non-existent cultural wars that needlessly divide our nation to get more ratings and money.
Have you ever considered the notion that when people become educated, have new experiences and think about their beliefs, it turns out they never really made sense in the first place?
Anyone who looks at the world and thinks higher education is part of the problem has got their priorities mixed up to the point that I would suspect they had been brainwashed.
