Global Warming Marshal Plan

Global Warming Marshal Plan

National Mobilization on Global Warming. We need a Marshal Plan here as big as the NASA Moonwalk Program to 1) Cap Carbon w/tax 2) Create Green Renewable Power Industries (like Google has) w/seed $$$, w/tax breaks for every house installing Solar and/or Wind Power, and All Utilities accepting surplus power back into their grids. 3) Massive Tree Plantings (like China) using a domestic Peace Corps (WPA style) planting multi-millions of Trees. And thereby regain the respect and trust of the Planet.

It would be great if everyone decided to go green, but the truth is that some families don't have access to products or resources. I think the government should develop an educational program with financial incentives to make going green an easier choice for people of all economic levels. Allocate $$ to homeless shelters for the installation of solar panels, offer financial incentives for using green materials in new home construction, spend more $$ on R & D of new green materials...

And plant those trees at gunpoint if you have to- just like China.

Lets build 1 coal fired power plant per month too ... just like China.

Yes, we do need a major program like the moon project, Marshall Plan, the New Deal and etc. I could've written this, more power to you.

Nice idea. I'm behind you. If we don't get on top of this, there will be a high price to pay later.

Either energy or fresh water will be the reason for the next big war.

Look At The Solar activity data , we are in a solar minimum. It is the sun, not co2 that is largely responsible for cyclic climate change. Here are a couple of interesting sites: http://www.spaceweather.com and http://www.solarcycle24.com Also look at this article: http://www.warwickhughes.com/agri/Solar_Arch_NY_Mar2_08.pd
Two weeks ago, 2 respected Russian scientists, said we are headed for global cooling because of solar inactivity, and that inactivity will last some 200 hundred years It is obvious that the Sun has the greatest influence on the climate, and to think man can change the climate by signing the Kyoto treaty or taxing carbon is utter nonsense . Do some research.
The earth has gone through four ice ages prior to dawn of the industrial age and the hated use of oil. Oil that made possible the highest standard of living for human kind ever. Instead if hating oil , in a sane world, we would be singing its praises. Even if you ignore the fact that the sun is largely responsible for climate change you must ask your self is it possible to change the climate whatever we do? Even the scientists that think that humans are responsible for global warming agree that implementing the Kyoto treaty will have no impact on the climate. It will just make all of us poorer, much poorer. Moreover, the money and resources we spend trying to stop the unstoppable could have been spent much more wisely elsewhere. The only real impact all the rules and laws used to try and stop global warming will have is to make us all poorer and give more power to the State as whoever controls energy controls everything. The reality is being green is the new red flag with a green hammer and cycle.

America does have a domestic PeaceCorps - it's called AmeriCorps NCCC (http://www.americorps.gov/for_individuals/choose/nccc.asp). The National Civilian Conservation Corps came from the New Deal and do environment work and disaster relief. Massive tree planting should be done in the name of habitat restoration; trees can be great for reducing CO2 and be an even greater benefit if they were part of an ecosystem (a tree on your lawn vs. a tree in a forest).

In response to GlobalWarmingIsAHoax, I'd say that people taking responsibility for themself, their use of resources, and their relationship with their surroundings is benefitial to everyone and their pocketbook, regardless of sun cycles.

The MOST important actions on prevention of global warming are NOT being done:

1. Research into TIDAL POWER stations: America's Eastern and Western seaboards offer almost unlimited tidal power.
The only such station in the Western Hemisphere is in Nova Scotia and that province already produces 12% of its electric power from renewable sources.

2.Research into low cost electric cars and high speed rechargeable batteries. Tesla has already an excellent vehicle, but at too high a cost.

3.Prepare for recharge stations at service stations and consider an electric pickup through a groove in the main streets of cities. (Like the old trams).

4.Put an immediate ban on all new coal powered power stations, and phase out all of the old ones. Put an immediate ban on all mountain top blast mining for coal and on all industrial river pollution.

5.Put an immediate ban on any new nuclear power stations, and nuclear weapons. Start to research better ways of disposing of nuclear waste.

6.Start the construction of large wind farms and solar farms. (The latter are best located in the southern desert states).
Denmark has shown the feasibility of building wind farms over the sea with turbines supported by pylons driven into the seabed.

7. Careful construction of dams for hydro power without having a harmful impact on wildlife and drinkable water supply.

8. Speeding up the increased mileage rules for gas powered vehicles.

9.Planting new forests and cutting back on lumber industry deforestation.

10.Aid to foreign nations in need to achieve the above goals.

How think you?
