Your paragraph is a very concise expression of what I would have used two pages to say! You have detailed our number 1 domestic problem in a nutshell - but everyone is terrified to tackle this issue. That may be changing, though. It seems that every day more people are exposed to the waste and destruction that characterize our so-called system of "justice".

It is much more cost-effective to provide treatment, education, housing and mental health care than it is to spend billions on law enforcement and prisons. Will America ever wake up to the fact that our once-free country has become the world's jailer? Truly appalling!

This IS what we are talking about! In Arizona They have turned this once FREE, beautiful and loving place into a Nazi state. They are USING our people to pay their bills, they make FELONS out of people at the drop of a hat!! It is a careful Plan u see, they fine you to death or put u in prison for FEDERAL monies, you should see how much Hitler oops! I mean Sheriff Joe Apario's from NJ ( get the rope) how huge HIS building is now. The minimum wage is now STILL under $7. something an hour when the housing went up 300 % and food 600% since the late 80s. They think it is funny to ruin families lives see they cannot vote or get a decent job, even if they do PAY THEIR DEBT TO SOCIETY! All these wanna-be cowboys make us sick!, cause our family has been here since 1800 and Az is no-longer a free country. We spend $50 billion a yr on incarceration and only $8 billion on education. Since it so EASY to become a FELON they should make the prisons at least livable!! That is why we agreed to PAY taxes again. we have these retired republicans that move here and then their families move here, because Bush & co caused their state to become depressed by allowing all the jobs to leave and they take OUR jobs and complain about the mexicans taking THEIRS?? We must bring back American manufacturing and Convert to ALL clean energies and fuels NOW!! Then we will be strong again and we can help all countries become self-suffecient and there will be NO MARKET Billionares infiltrating OUR governments!

Yeah, it's less expensive for us as taxpayers to provide sensible solutions. But then, we aren't the ones getting rich off prisons, I guess. Prisons are truly a business, as Kim points out, and a very lucrative one at that. I can't help but think that the folks who made it that way have truly sold their souls, and if there is a hell, that's where they're headed.

Arizona...Isn't that where that one really tough sheriff has those "tent city" prisons? Disgusting.

In Texas there is at least one "private" prison that holds only undocumented immigrants, guilty of no other crime. Men, women, children, and the elderly are all in the same place. The prison gets paid $5000 per prisoner.

I read that last week, and I was truly disgusted to live in America. That something like that could happen here...the mind boggles.

Why yes... they do have tent city, In fact my 19 yr old son was just there over a joint. He has to PAY$700.00 just to the"not become a FELON" people plus $15.00 each random UA. $175.00 for some class, plus they suspended his license and fined him $1783.00 and they r adding interest! he did say tent city was better than being inside, in the winter, but he said he could NOT imagine it in the 120 degrees summer here in Phx. Yeah Sherrif Joe Apario! My number #1 focus right now at least here. The republican retirees put him in office, guess the VOTE counted then. he is from NJ ( get the rope) He is one of the biggest problems here, he and his "posse" HA!! My grt grandfather was a cattle-rancher whom literally drove cattle to MT,AK,WY.TX,CO and he was a REAL cowboy and these wanna-bes make us sick! More than that is his PINK boxers the county inmates wear with HIS name on them, And the black & white striped chain-gang attire, He has/is making a laughing stalk out of our home!!! Yes it is sad. Sometimes I just want to grab my children and grandson and go to AK, or MT or Canada, but they drove me out of my home before and I wonder if my dead family that fought for AZ and my uncle still MIA in vietnam would consider us yellow?? Americans don't even know that they have become "enslaved" to the bankers, the lenders, the corporate american gov't. I wish they would wake up. when I go on a thread on care2, some people just want to attack/argue and I told them we don't have time for this pettiness, this is the problem, NOT the solution people! People MUST humble themselves and stand for their rights, for their taxes, FIRE our so-called REPS, because they r NOT representing! We need REAL people as our reps. We must stand for OUR planet and OUR children's futures!!! We must respect MOTHER nature and her wild-life! On the sierra Club there r some threads too about the new Digital "age" they call it, when they r taking away an all time american freedom antenna TV!!! Next it will be PAY radio???? Some elderly people only get $200.00 a month in ssi, because they told me that when they were young they only paid pennies into ssdi? Here they all attack the mexicans and america is supposed to stand for the pursuit of happiness? They have as much right to come here as did the british, Irish, cubans, chinese etc.! Americans are directing their angers at the wrong people. We see them ( the americans) out there every saturday protesting over by day labor places, by where we take free food to the poor of all race & color. We see these people that moved to AZ from Ohio, Michigan Iowa(MCCain) and take OUR jobs and have all this time to protest against the mexicans they say take THEIR jobs? The mexicans just go over 2 blocks and wait for their contractor to pick them up. If these Americans would welcome the mexicans and be hospitable instead of making enemies of them, because we NEED them to stop the enslavement of the world, which has been years in the making. Tell me we aren't slaves to them??? They want to start charging tolls to drive on roads we already pay for here in AZ, oh yeah they are tough, like leather and they need to take their PINK houses, boxers, socks & tents and their families and their sherrif and governor BACK to Ohio and leave us REAL cowboys/girls live in a FREE/HAPPY AZ> The way it WAS... Before them!!!! No more houses(trac-homes)!!! No more FELONS out of OUR children, leave the mexicans ALONE!!!
