Nuclear weapons are genocidal weapons, and therefore already outlawed by international law.If we allow every nation a severely limited, small number of nuclear weapson for defensive purposes, and outlaw all other nuclear weapons, then we would have a semblance of national security and absence of agressive actions by any one nation. The world may be able to live without the nuclear holocaust we all dread today.
Immediately stop research, development, and maintenance of our nuclear weapons program except to as-safely-as-possible dismantle all of our warheads. This would be the best first step. We can't wait for other countries to lead us on an issue that we created ourselves in World War II.
To even be thinking about using nuclear weapons at this point in time is simply insane. Every effort must be made to find peaceful solutions to the problems of the world. Mass suicide is not the answer.
