The sequelae of anthropogenic global warming(AGW) are occurring at a rate faster than the IPCC predictions, and the Pentagon (not exactly a bunch of hippie liberal environmentalist) recognized the dire consequences of AGW on the US and its contribution to the rise of terrorism. They stated in 2003 "...recent evidence suggests the possibility that a more dire climate scenario may actually be unfolding." Famine, pestilence, economic collapse, and terrorism will follow AGW like night follows day.
Problem is the stance the US takes - of "top-dog". Instead of trying to push the other countries around, to force them to follow US policies, we could try building alliances for improvement of conditions (poverty and famine among others) in their parts of the world. Make friends of the peoples of the world and work WITH them, not exploiting them however we can. Then THEY will help control terrorists. Poverty and terrorism are connected!
The key to world peace is the equitable distribution of the world's resources, which means the ending of world hunger and poverty through international co-operation. The causes that lead to world hunger, poverty, and lack of all sorts are the very same causes that lead to war. Humanity must recognize itself as a unit, one great family. The natural, technological and human resources of the world belong to everyone. Sharing creates the trust and justice which lead to peace.
