Our new president needs to take leadership in developing and implementing a National Strategy for Sustainability, as all the UN members agreed to do at the Rio Earth Summit and World Summit on Sustainable Development. MDG 7 calls for all countries to integrate environmental sustainability in theiir policies and actions. We need to make a rapid transition to full sustainability, quit depleting our natural resource base, poisoning our natural environment, and using toxics that hurt our health.

Wind & solar energy and steam heat. Railroad trains versus semis traveling great distances. Peat in fireplaces - save the trees for cleaner air! Get rid of unnecessary gas hogs, ie.blimps etal. Make it mandatory for only hybrid cars to be manufactured & sold at affordable prices. Build trams in cities for commuters. Educate the public on how to conserve & give incentives. Rid the need for big oil companies! GE is coming up with a lot of good ideas that need considered. Create a govt task force!

The key to world peace is the equitable distribution of the world's resources, which means the ending of world hunger and poverty through international co-operation. The causes that lead to world hunger, poverty, and lack of all sorts are the very same causes that lead to war. Humanity must recognize itself as a unit, one great family. The natural, technological and human resources of the world belong to everyone. Sharing creates the trust and justice which lead to peace.
