congress

Actually follow our constitution when it comes to fighting wars...

Don't go to war unless you have a Declaration of War from Congress authorizing it (otherwise the war goes on forever). & Don't go to war unless the threat is IMMINENT. If it is, then ONLY go after the selected individuals involved.

Have Congress Close Guantanamo Bay

Stoller thinks that the next president should submit a bill to Congress closing Guantanamo Bay. He should do it through Congress, rather than by executive order, as a sign of respecting Congress as a coequal branch of government, and he should shut down Guantanamo because it is a symbol of a failed and immoral American policy that we need to turn the page from.

US Renaissance

While acknowledging the contributions of religions, swear off divisive peripheral issues like abortion and gay rights. Focus instead on issues national consensus. Implement the Unified Security Budget (http://www.fpif.org/fpiftxt/4175) & Plan B 3.0 (http://www.earth-policy.org/Books/PB3/index.htm). Reaffirm Congress sole authority to declare war. Propose Biennial Budget for greater oversight. Repeal all in-effect executive orders over 1 year. Above all, apologize to UN & Iraq.
