Step One: If it has'nt been done already by the time you take office, bail out the Big 3 auto makers or at least GM. The Republicans are trying to bust the unions, so they want to make any bailout contingent on them relocating to the South. (Where they have "right to work" laws). That's #1 in saving the economy. Your ideas about a FDR style of rebuilding the infrastructure is good. If we can get out of Iraq, we will have enough $ to do these things. Also, WHY are we in Afganistan?

Immediately hold official peace talks with all warring factions in Iraq (certainly including our own); provide for amnesty and, if necessary, a schedule of reparations payments by our government. Acknowledge our illegal invasion, and leave. That may be costly, but, in the end, it will be far less costly than attempting to preserve an occupation based on brute force and which is sending our economy into a dizzying circle of inflation.
