Make telecommuting a national priority for all jobs where the work can be done equally well from home. That simple change would save a tremendous amount of gasoline, turn commuting time into productive labor hours, and help families spend more time together. In my own life, such a mandate would save me 200 driving miles, about 9 gallons of gasoline, and 12 commuting hours per week, 50 weeks per year.
