Auto Industry Bail Out

If tax payers end up bailing out the auto industry it should be with the requirement of retooling their machinery for alternative fuel vehicles such as electric. The industry tells us how expensive this would be but it tax payers send them our money we should have a say in how this is spent. Not for bonuses and the continuation of making obsolete vehicles. Barak Obama made mention in his interview with Steve Croft that once gas prices start down the incentive to make more efficient cars goes.

Find the 100 mile per gallon car!

On Day One, I would tell the new president that he needs to do everything he possibly can to find the 100 mile per gallon car.

Direct the EPA to Regulate Carbon

The next administration should reverse the EPA's rejection of California's request to mandate selling cleaner cars. The new president should also press the EPA to begin regulating carbon, as per its authority under the current Clean Air Act.

END production of fossil fuel-burning cars within TEN YEARS

On Day One, the next President should announce that within ten years, all internal-combustion automobile production will cease. PERIOD. Ethanol and hydrogen cars are pipe dreams of the energy industry. The ONLY way to end our dependence on fossil fuels is to switch to electric cars NOW, and rebuild our national electric grid based on solar, wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric power. ALL subsidies to the energy industry should cease, as they've proven they're unwilling to do their part.
