I think the first thing on the agenda should be the American economy. With so many large corporations outsourcing overseas, more and more Americans are losing their jobs. The gap between the "rich" and the "poor" is closing more and more, leading to the elimination of our middle class. The new president needs to find a way to create more jobs for Americans, especially during this time of rising food and fuel costs.
The next President should enact a heafty levy on businesses that employ non-nationals outside the US such as call centers and factory workers. These dollars leave and do not generate revenue and are not taxed inside the US. Then companies would realize fiscal benefit to employing citizens within our borders.
Work with Congress to create tax or other incentives for everyone to retrofit their homes with insulation and leaks plugged. Everyone wins! Less fuel burned, lower heating bills, and lots of jobs created to do the retrofits.
