Make the Internet Free for Everyone!

If I were president, On Day One I would make the internet free for every single American. This would allow us to compete with the rest of the world in economics, science, education, and, most importantly, democracy. Technology is a tool that we can use to make democracy relevant to people's lives in the 21st century.

Act Like We Are Members, Not Rulers, of the World

On Day One, we need to act like we are members of the world, not rulers of the world. We need to sit down with other countries, even those we don't happen to like, we need to use economic pressure, and yes, as a last resort, we need to use military pressure, in a concerned fashion that works with our NATO partners and with the UN. That is the way we can repair all the damage that's been done during the Bush administration.

Talk with the Chinese

My recommendation for our next president, on Day One of his or her administration, is - after hopefully already having boycotted the Olympics - to urge the Chinese to have a dialog with the Dalai Lama, to give Tibetans autonomy, and to stop the oppression and genocide. We should also work with the Chinese on other issues, like Darfur and other human rights issues, as well as on economics. It is time to talk with the Chinese and work with the world community to apply pressure on them.
