Coming Together

Upon hearing the news of the US's election of Barack Obama as the next presdient, people all across the world seemed to perk up and pay a bit more attention to our country. Leaders from different nations may feel more of a connection to Obama, and might be more willing to sit down and talk with him. This is what I would ask Obama to do on his first day: contact leaders from different countries and simply discuss the state of the human race. How can we come together and create a better world?

Global Poverty and Unemployment

In overpopulated and developing countries like India where employment opportunities are insufficient, BPO firms have come as a boon to many families. I would request President Obama to encourage American companies to set up more such firms in poor and developing countries which will provide employment to thousands of educated unemployed youths and help in eradicating global poverty. This will also build a positive image of the American President and of the U.S.A. in the minds of people worldwide

Act Like We Are Members, Not Rulers, of the World

On Day One, we need to act like we are members of the world, not rulers of the world. We need to sit down with other countries, even those we don't happen to like, we need to use economic pressure, and yes, as a last resort, we need to use military pressure, in a concerned fashion that works with our NATO partners and with the UN. That is the way we can repair all the damage that's been done during the Bush administration.
