Now is the time to establish an honorable legacy. Make the right decision for the future: protect the environment from Day One! Oil subsidies distort the economy and should be shifted to renewable energy research and development. There is an opportunity for massive economic growth in this sector if only Americans have bold leaders to encourage us!
Focus on clean energy. Remove all the fed support for big oil and give it to those researching and developing (and utilizing) renewable energy, for crying out loud! And start taxing carbon, and most of all, create incentives for conservation: a concept which is apparently an anathema to Bush and neocon ideology. And where is the outrage over Exon's 24 billion in profits when the Middle Class struggles to even exist?
