Nuclear energy is not a viable solution to the world's increasing energy needs, nor is it is good alternative to fossil fuels. Any nuclear program, whether it be for energy or military purposes should be off the table.

There must be an alternative

There must be an alternative to using oneupmanships of force to settle disputes. I, for one, would support renouncing veto power in the United Nations Security Council provided everybody else in it does the same. Otherwise, who can blame a nation or group for wanting nuclear weapons. After all. Who wants to be the next Iraq. In addition to the multilateral efforts which need to be advanced by the U.S. as outlined within the petition, it is long overdue for the U.S. to square its own nuclear weapons status with that which we demand from others.
