We need a renewable energy economy that immediately switches subsidies and focus from oil and gas to wind and solar, both large and small scale. Feed-in technologies will enable solar producing homes to feed extra energy into the grid and be paid for it. Preventive antibiotic use in CAFOs will be outlawed, as it can foster antibiotic resistant bacteria. This would also lead to the closing of CAFOs, with their unsanitary conditions. Local food systems will be encouraged over centralized.

Increase incentives in the form of an income tax credit for installation of solar panels on a residence, apartment or small business. Provide low-interest loans for same as well so that people and businesses with limited capital can participate. Solar power generated at the point of use will reduce the need for immediate additional transmission infrastructure.

Immediately begin saving our Earth. Require all new construction to be solar powered with solar panels and other green energy appliances and systems installed. Allow a tax incentive for existing home owners compliance to green energy. Make all government buildings convert to solar power and other green energy systems. Finally stop subsidizing big oil and allowing them to hold the American people hostage by continuously raising gas prices until they were allowed to drill in coastal areas.

On day one, the President and his family will move into a new house -- one which belongs to the American People. The VERY first thing they should do is set about making it energy independent, using every strategy: from reduced usage, using CFL bulbs, all the way to beginning installation of a solar power or geothermal energy grid to use at the White House. Think about the example this would set! A Carbon Neutral goal for the White House would get massive attention.
