On day one, the next president should bring transparency back to the government. One of Bush's first acts was to issue an edict making presidential records off-limits to the American public, despite numerous laws to the contrary. The next president should not only repeal this fiat, but also get Congress involved in denouncing its creation in the first place so that future presidents will not renew it. This is only the first step in reviving transparency, but it's an important one.
