Short-range corporate priorities that put profits ahead of people will eventually destroy both! As president you should promulgate policies that promote longer-term thinking by all American decision-makers. If a company such as ExxonMobil continues to push an agenda that objective science has shown to be misleading or harmful to the public, its charter should be revoked and its assets returned to stakeholders.

A Steady, predictable Rise in Gas Prices

tags: Climate and Energy, fuel economy, gas prices, greenhouse gases

Let's decide in advance that the price of gas will increase by 2 cents per gallon weekly, or $1.00 per gallon yearly. Such a steady, predictable increase will focus our minds wonderfuily on ways to reduce gas consumption. The difference between the low production cost and the retail price of gas should guarantee adequate profits to the entire supply chain, even with high levels of taxation to support alternative energy development, temporary relief for the consumers who are most affected, etc.

Stop Creating Terrorists

tags: The U.S. Image in the World, end military war; wage war on terrorism via peaceful means;

The "War on Terror" is an attempt to win over hearts and minds by the force of arms. This works no better than the "war on drugs" has or Prohibition did! Civilians are 90% of the casualties in any modern "war", creating enemies faster than they can be destroyed. The obvious alternative is to listen respectfully to others' grievances and do our best to end any injustices that we have caused. There can be no "implacable enemies" among people who respect, talk to and understand one another!
