My Ideas

It is time for Americans to rethink the interventionist foreign policy that is accepted without question in Washington

“Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations- entangling alliances with none.” - Thomas Jefferson ******** "It’s hypocritical to dismiss certain founding principles simply because a convenient rationale is needed to justify interventionist policies today. The principles enshrined in the Constitution do not change. If anything, today’s more complex world cries out for the moral clarity provided by a noninterventionist foreign policy." --Ron Paul

Actually follow our constitution when it comes to fighting wars...

Don't go to war unless you have a Declaration of War from Congress authorizing it (otherwise the war goes on forever). & Don't go to war unless the threat is IMMINENT. If it is, then ONLY go after the selected individuals involved.

Use fitness center equipment to generate power & incorporate it into the grid...

Want an easy way to generate power without burning fossil fuels? We should develop exercise bikes and treadmills that generate mechanical power and feed it back into the grid. Fitness centers would cut down on their power bills (good for them) and people could save the planet and get healthy at the same time!

Issue a new declaration of Independence from our Government Tyranny...

It was the founding father's belief that when a government treads too harshly on the rights of her citizens, it is the inalienable right for the citizens to denounce that government and form a new one. The People of America need to issue a new non-violent Declaration of Independence from the Government that has failed to adequately represent them to the rest of the world. If this means peaceful rebellion, so be it...

Form a true "Coalition of the Willing"...

tags: Terrorism
This war on terror is going to bankrupt us in much the same way the arms race contributed to the bankruptcy of the Soviet Union. Almost every country, in some way or another, is dealing with the threat of radical Islam within their own borders. Why then is only America and a few select others leading this fight (a rhetorical question)? America needs to revamp her diplomatic approach to the issue, mend a few broken relationships, and form a true "coalition of the willing" working together to

Empower Muslims to speak out against terrorism without fear of retaliation

tags: Terrorism
Why aren't millions of Muslims taking to the streets in protest against the horrific acts of terrorism that occur every day in the name of Allah? I believe that part of the reason lies in the fact that many Muslims around the world are afraid to speak out for fear of being targeted by these groups. We need to address this issue (especially before the UN) and work to empower Muslims worldwide who disagree with terrorism as a tactic to achieve political and theological gain.

Start a Nation-wide University partnership with Mexico to promote cross-cultural understanding

Make it much easier for student who wish to learn Spanish in Mexico to spend a year in a Mexican University - and vice versa for Mexican students.

Figure out how to make alternative energy (green energy) profitable...

The logic is simple. If green power is profitable for businesses (even for those who don't care about our planet) then green technology will become more "mainstream" and less "alternative".

Eliminate the National Debt....

How can we possibly set an example for developing nations when we can't even balance our own checkbook?

Empower American Citizens (young and old) to impact the world for good...

Repeatedly show Americans that when ordinary people perform ordinary acts of kindness (whether at home or abroad), extraordinary changes will take place which will have a huge impact on the world.

Require ALL US students to spend a year in service abroad...

It is my belief that many in America are ignorant of the rest of the world simply because they have not had an opportunity to see it for themselves. Because of this, it should be mandatory for ALL students to spend a year outside the US doing some sort of humanitarian/volunteer service through an organization like the Peace Corp. This real-world experience will develop a whole generation of global leaders and the rest of the world will take notice!

Stop overmedicating the poor...

tags: Poverty
Start reforming Medicaid and promote medical practices that promote a healthy lifestyle before overmedicating the poor with free drugs. Also, it should be illegal for a person to get name brand narcotics for free under medicaid (which cost thousands of our tax dollars for a 30 day supply) when there are generics (the same exact drug) available for much less (sometimes less than $10).

Use an American town as a model for Green America

Since it will be a huge challenge to turn America into a "Green Nation", I suggest taking a small town and using it as a model for the rest of America. First, work to get the entire town off the power grid so that no fossil fuels are consumed. Secondly, redesign the public transportation system to allow for easier and more efficient access & run this system completely off hybridized or electrical power. Finally, engineer periodic "green spaces" containing forest and streams for public use.

Promote a culture that seeks knowledge, wisdom, and character....

Stop giving our kids R-rated movies to watch when they should be reading. Stop letting them play video games when they should be out learning social skills with other children. It is a sad state of affairs when the average college male can name 10 playboy playmates but not name 10 foreign capitals. The average girl can quote every episode of "Sex in the City", yet cannot tell you who Susan B Anthony is. My point is - our pop culture promotes stupidity. Let's promote learning.

Add a Homeschooling amendment to the Constitution!

"I believe that school makes complete fools of our young men, because they see and hear nothing of ordinary life there." --Petronius Satyricon. The framers of the Constitution never once considered education to be a role of the Federal Government. Education should begin first and foremost in the home. This next President needs to promote an amendment to the Constitution which protects a Parent's right to educate their child at home.

Quit treating African nations like ignorant teenagers with an allowance... we are all human!

tags: Poverty
Start treating the nations of Africa like equals instead of lesser states - deal with them the same way you would a member of the EU. Stop pouring massive amounts of aid money into the pockets of corrupt African leaders. Start addressing the real problems behind the AIDS epidemic & work to dispel myths and to promote behavior changes in the culture which will result in a lower infection rate.

Crack down on the trade of Human Sex Slaves within the United States

Human slavery did not end in the US at the end of the Civil War - it exists today in the form of Human Sex Trafficking (mostly young girls who are tricked into coming to this country by men wishing to exploit them for money). The next president needs to make this a priority for law enforcement and use his/her influence to raise public awareness of this issue.

Work towards efficient, cheap Solar Power

Start an initiative within US Universities to seek to discover new, cost effective ways to make Solar Power more affordable and sustainable for the average American. If every American could run just a few of their everyday appliances off solar energy (refrigerator, TV, air conditioning, etc), think of the amount of energy they would be saving in the long run (not to mention the $$!)...

Have an open, honest debate about the roots of Terror within radical Islam

tags: Terrorism
The world needs to sit down and have an open, honest debate about the roots of terror within radical Islam. I believe this can be done in a way that is both non-inflammatory and educational. Unless we recognize the problem, it will not be solved.
