Our foolish rush to ethanol is seeing the encreased demise of old growth forest upon the globe. While I advocate the usage of Industrial Hemp for our paper and wood product usage, there is another alternative. Bamboo, with varieties that can be grown at 50 degrees latitude is an excellent plant for eco usage. The carbon sequesterian abilites and range of this plant is almost as universal as Hemp itself. I call for the Secretary of Agriculture, to launch a study in the benefits of Bamboo.
Most studies would indicate that we are seeing a decreased ability from our academic institutions. A idea to consider is adding two years to the public shcool curriculumn. Pre through ten, would encompass the same educational requirements of today's public schools. Grades eleven through fourteen would be some form a liberal arts training. Then allow today's youth to get specialized training.
Training a mind to think for itself is the foundation upon which a democracy can survive.
One of the major reasons we are seeing extensive fires in the west are the condition of the parks, etc. After the clearcutting of the 1800's, the realization of our blunder and the replanting. We took a hands off approach. The old growth forest had a very different under the canopy than today.
Lets call for the non-fossilized means of underbrush removal in the national parks via a public works program. Put people to work a decent wage.
As water issues are becoming more prominent. We must address the issue of waste water treatment facilites and their capacity, in areas where projected increased precipatation will occur.
I have seen to many town papers up and down Mississippi report on discharges into the water after heavy rains.
Therefore we call for the creation of a public works campaign to address these issues. An opportunity to put people to work, feed families, provide health care and spur the economy.
A strong believer in the escalation of climate change, hence more severe disaster occuring upon the globe. I suggest an increase in Civilian Affairs troops. Positions around the globe with adequate supplies in order to be dropped into any hotspot within 12 hours to assist the people of the planet when disaster strikes.
