Make permaculture a public policy. Teach kids how to grow food in all schools. Set aside land in the cities and burbs for growing food locally and organically. Stop subsidizing commodities such as corn, soybeans, and wheat. Increase the number of small family farms to further stimulate a local food growing economy. Local dollars stay in the community and strengthen local economies. Implement a CAFO Tax to get revenue for poverty programs.
In order to show good faith, to make amends for past transgressions, and to show real leadership I propose that the United States immediately begin a 100% nuclear decommissioning program. This program would completely disarm the United States as a nuclear power. All current weapons in the arsenal would be safely dismantled and the toxic nuclear waste properly disposed of. All funding for nuclear weapons research will be immediately cut.
