Just as the USA has bought off the Sunni resistance in Iraq, the solution to the opium economy in Afghanistan, with its links to internal corruption, the Taliban, the 'War on Drugs' , and the 'War on Terror', is to use whatever increased levels of military personnel the new administration introduces into Afghanistan to provide security for model programs of buying up (and ultimately destroying) the poppy production of all the farmers.
